Tip of the Week - April 22 - SOCKS

Trek Tip of the Week #2 SOCKS: Good socks are the second most important item that can promote an enjoyable and blister-free trek experience! Socks should be soft, wicking, formed and well-fitting (not too tight or too loose) and free of thick seams. Synthetic blends like coolmax, thorlo and wigwam help wick moisture away from feet and keep them dry. Absolutely no tube socks or worn socks with holes! It is helpful to bring multiple pairs and dust with powder (ziploc bag) so that you can change them when needed, to keep feet dry.

Tip of the Week - April 15 - SHOES

Trek Tip of the Week #1  SHOES: One of the most important things you can do to ensure an enjoyable trek experience is to wear a good pair of walking shoes or hiking boots. They should have a flexible sole and be made out of a mesh material that breathes, or a combination of mesh and leather. A higher top shoe/ boot supports the ankle better and may provide better protection. Well-fitting shoes should have 1/2 inch space between the longest toe and the end of the shoe, wiggle room in the toe box, a good arch support, and the heels shouldn't slip when you walk. Make sure you wear your trek shoes with appropriate socks regularly 3-4 weeks BEFORE THE TREK!

Registration Packets Due on April 29

Registration packets for all youth have been delivered to the Ward Young Women and Young Men Presidents.  Please complete the packets and return to your local leader as soon as possible but at least by April 29.

Be sure also to identify a "pioneer" in your life that you can trek on behalf of.  This is a great opportunity to learn more about someone perhaps in your family that you love and admire.

Invitation to all Trekkers

     We invite all youth (14 to 18 years old) that live within the stake to spend 4 days with us this summer as we head east to the Wyoming handcart sites - Martin's Cove, Sixth Crossing and Rock Creek Hollow. 
     Come feel the spirit of the trail used by 75,000 mormon pioneers and hundreds of thousand others that settled the west.  Check in your gear Tuesday evening, June 27th.  We'll be leaving early morning June 27th and returning Saturday June 30.  A fireside on Sunday July 1 will conclude our 2012 trek.
